ACRP - Attack & Disaster Response Planning

Attack & Contingency Response Planning Workshop

An updated version of the Attack and Contingency Response Workshop will be held in Seoul, South Korea, October 21 - 24, 2009, just prior to the ICANN meeting.

In today's networked environment, managing operational risks to critical information and processes requires enterprises to focus on securing and sustaining the most critical parts of their business operations.

Contingency response plans are a key element, and having them in place can increase the chance of surviving threats to businesses, information, and infrastructures. This four day workshop introduces ccTLD executives, managers, and operations staff to contingency response planning - the art and science of establishing a robust program focusing on operational risks to information assets. It builds upon lessons learned across the ccTLD community as a result of the training provided in previous Attack and Contingency Response Planning (ACRP) workshops. In this expanded workshop, students are introduced to methods for conducting contingency planning and assessing risks. An 8-step process and innovative templates tailored for ccTLD operations are used to greatly simplify the art of conducting a risk assessment. A focused discussion on mitigation strategies provides students with actionable methods for addressing risks to their organizations. Additionally, participants share their thoughts on mitigation strategies during a series of facilitated, scenario-based discussions on risk, contingency response, and exercising.

Upon completion, students will not only be able to effectively guide their organizations in creating contingency response plans, but they will be ready to test and evaluate their mitigation strategies under realistic conditions.
