APTLD July 2004 Meeting Communiqué
The Asia Pacific Top Level Domain
Association (APTLD) convened its second Member and Board Meeting for the year
of 2004 at
The meeting began with a
special session of fruitful dialogue with CENTR on how both regional
organizations, APTLD and CENTR, might enhance future cooperation and learning
from each other’s operation experiences.
During the meeting, members
were briefed on ICANN related issues including the current progress and
development of ccNSO and a comprehensive updates on comments posted on the
ICANN budget. In order for members
to have further insights of these issues which are of great concern to the
APTLD members, ICANN Vice President, Mr. Paul Verhoef, and IANA General
Manager, Mr.
It is also worth noting that
been a regional forum, information on regional cooperation project such as Asia
Pacific ENUM Engineering Team (APEET) and APNG recent event updates were
presented to members’ attention at the meeting. And the organization’s Secretariat
operation has entered a stable stage, its finance management recently been
examined by professional auditor; and has fully documented the Secretariat
operations in a “Request for Proposal to Operate APTLD Secretariat” in searching
for a new Secretariat for two year term from 2005 to 2006.
In the future, APTLD intends
to enhance its technical training service to ccTLDs in the AP region by means
of hosting APTLD workshop or collaborating with trainings conducted by
organizations such as APNIC. Furthermore, it was moved during the Board’s
Meeting that the Board
will recommend to apply for ccNSO recognition as regional ccTLD association and
call for members’ comments on the members’ mailing list.
