The 1st Global IPv6 Summit in the Asia Pacific

2/24-26 just closed successfully in Taipei

 

Under the cooperative assistance of major IPv6 promotion countries, The First Global IPv6 Summit in the AP was held grandly in in at the Taipei from 24 to 26 February International Convention Center at from February 24-26.   More than 400 domestic and foreign talents attended this grand conference.Important results obtained are as follows:

 

nOpening Ceremony

The chairman of the conference guidance committee ¡V Dr. Pao-shu Lin, vice president of Industrial Technology Research Institute and head of Computer & Communications Research Labs, and the chairman of agenda committee ¡V Mr. Huang Yeh Kao Chih of IPv6 Promotion Council in Japan, hosted the opening ceremony jointly.  More than 400 domestic and foreign talents of all walks of life attended this grand conference.

n             ¡§IPv6 rRound-tTable cConference¡¨

This conference invited the CEOs of about 10 major manufacturers in Taiwan¡¦s industrial worldfield to exchange opinions with International IPv6 experts and share points of views for IPv6. Many IPv6 promoters believe that only Taiwan¡¦s manufacturers engage in R&D and production of the IPv6 Internet system, the global network can rapidly achieve high popularity of IPv6.  Many IPv6 promoters believe that only Taiwan¡¦s manufacturers engage in R&D and production of the IPv6 Internet system, the global network can rapidly achieve the high popularity of IPv6.  After attending this CEO round-table conference, Taiwan¡¦s manufacturers have already known the importance of stepping into the IPv6 domain as soon as possible.

n            IPv6 Seminar

During the one-and-a-half day intensive seminar, pPeople from more than 10 countries in the Asia Pacific Region attended the seminar, and more than 40 speeches were presented.   Specific topics such as government policies, telecommunication companyies strategies, operational technologies, standards and testing were discussed to provide an exchangein this platform for the participators to share experiences.  As for the topic of government policies, the seminar was honored to invite the representative of MPHPT and Dr. Kai-sheng Kao, vice director of The Directorate General of Telecommunications to provide first-hand information on the issue of the national IPv6 developing strategy.

 

n            The sSignature of international cCooperative aAgreement and mMemorandum

The signature for the IPv6 cooperative project at on the evening of February 24 was the high tide of this conference.  After a series of discussions and conferences, IPv6 Forum Taiwan signed a cooperative memorandum and cooperative agreement with Japan¡¦s ¡§IPv6 Promotion Council¡¨ and the European Union¡¦s ¡§Eurov6¡¨ respectively.   Resolution to promote IPv6 was declared, and various cooperative plans will be developed according to this basis in the future.

At this time where when Taiwan¡¦s traditional industries wait to be transformed and technological industries face to be upgraded, the appearance of IPv6 provides a new opportunity.  It has been expected that the enthusiastic discussions at this conference can facilitate Taiwan¡¦s relevant industries to respond on to the coming of the IPv6 era.
