Since the formation of the
Country-Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) during ICANN Rome Meetings
on 1 March 2004, the first member and Council meeting was held in Kuala

Extends Deadline for Submissions In response to community feedback, ICANN¡¦s Nominating Committee (NomCom) announced today it has extended its deadline for Statements of Interest to 25 August 2004 (12:00 GMT). (more) ICANN Launches New Initiatives
to Steward a Stable Global Internet ICANN wrapped up its week-long
meetings in KL during which the world-wide Internet community moved forward
on a number of significant new initiatives directed at further stewarding a
stable global Internet. The meeting was attended by more than 700

the first time, an IPv6 nameserver address has been added to the Internet's

Subsequent .net Registry Operator For the designation of a subsequent
registry operator for .net, a draft procedure is being outlined and announced
in accordance with Section 5.2 of the current .net Registry Agreement and is
being posted on the ICANN website for public comments. All substantive public
comments will be provided to the ICANN Board prior to its meeting in June
2004 as a supplement to this document, after which the final procedure will

ENUM in Asia Pacific region as well as in other regions of the world, APEET,
Asia Pacific ENUM Engineering Team, was inaugurated on 19 July 2004 to help
promote techinical information exchange and trial of international connection
through ENUM technology. The founding members of the APEET are JPRS, CNNIC,

Breached Code of Practice auDA has found that accredited
registrar TPP Internet acted in breach of the .au Domain Name Suppliers' Code
of Practice by sending inaccurate and misleading renewal advice emails to

Restriction on Geographic Names in com.au and net.au Under current auDA policy, people are
not allowed to use Australian geographic (place) names as domain names in
com.au and net.au. This policy was originally introduced in 1997-98 by the
previous administrators of com.au (Melbourne IT) and net.au (Connect
Internet) in order to protect geographic names from commercial exploitation

Names Effective from 1 August 2004, auDA,
the administrator of .au domain names, will reduce the fee it charges for .au

2004 Fiscal Year, the Swedish government instructed the National Post and
Telecom Authority (PTS) to examine, in close cooperation with Internet
operators and other stakeholders, which functions relating to the operation
and administration of top level domains are crucial to a high level of
security in the domain name system. In recent years, the PTS has examined a
number of issues concerning the safety, accessibility and availability of the
Internet, and this report builds upon that earlier work. The report prepared by the National
